How am I going to be charged?
Long distance moves are based upon the weight of the goods that you are shipping as well as the distance you are traveling. We have our own certified scale that will accurately weigh your belongings. To properly assess your long distance move, you should contact our office to obtain a price quote.
Can I get a written estimate?
Yes. Our professional sales team is out giving estimates everyday to clients in a similar position as you. They know how to give you a proper estimate based on seeing what you want to move. Give us a call and we will schedule a free in home estimate.
I don’t want any surprises. Will you give me a binding price?
Yes, we can give a not-to-exceed quote. However, if your situation is very dynamic we may not be able to. Please call us to get more information.
What about liability for my possessions?
Golan’s offers a basic valuation on your belongings throughout your move. If you would like to increase this we have a few options available. For more details, click here.
Will my things be on the truck with other moves?
Yes, but this is how we keep the cost low. If you were the only one on a semi-truck going cross country we would have to charge higher rates. What you should keep in mind is the following:
- Golan’s employees will wrap and prepare everything for transportation. This will ensure that everything arrives in the same condition it left the departure location.
- We will put identification tags on all of your belongings and create and inventory list for you.
- Upon reaching your destination we will check to make sure everything on this list is unloaded and in your possession.

What are features I can expect during my long distance move?
Our men will work hard, and you will be impressed by the rate at which they work. You can expect:
- Detailed inventories provided for each move.

I don’t have much to move, is there a minimum amount?
Yes, but you would be surprised how quickly the weight of your items adds up. Our minimum long distance weight is 1,000 lbs. while most of our competition puts their minimum at 2,000 lbs. Most of our customers who are worried about the minimum don’t have the ability to accurately guess the weight of their goods, and most of the time people have more than the necessary minimum.
It is important to understand that Golan’s only uses our own professional movers. We will never hire day-laborers. We understand how stressful moving can be, and want you to know that Golan’s is here to alleviate that stress.
